Energy rating to SEI guidelines

Under new legislation in 2006, the Government has introduced the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). Under this Directive, all houses granted Planning Permission after 1st July 2007 must have a Building Energy Rating (BER) carried out.

A BER is an objective scale of comparison for the energy performance of a building ranging from A1 to G. It is rather like the mpg (or l/km) rating for a motorcar or the A to G rating for a household electrical appliance.

BERs will be carried out by specially trained BER assessors, registered by Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI).  Ignatius Greaney & Associates is a qualified and registered BER assessor and is now offering this service.
